Finale Doshi-Velez, Ph.D. (HMS, Biomedical Informatics) focuses on developing data-driven methods for robustly combining heterogeneous data sources to better understand disease progression and discover subtypes that correlate to the efficacy of different treatment options. For example, her initial discovery work in autism spectrum disorder led to a more detailed study on the association between autism spectrum disorder and inflammatory bowel disease. To efficiently interpret patterns discovered in highdimensional data, her group leans on novel techniques they have developed to succinctly summarize topics and clusters.
