Benjamin Neale, Ph.D. (Member of the TAC; MGH/Broad, Analytical and Translational Genetics Unit) focuses heavily on the development and application of statistical methodology for genetic analysis. He has over a decade of experience in such methods with an extensive track record of conducting analyses for big data, such as genome-wide association and next generation sequencing data. The majority of his research activities have been conducted as part of large-scale international consortia, with a particular focus on psychiatric illness. Furthermore, he has collaborated with many other international consortia, such as GIANT (Genetics of Anthropomorphic Traits, including obesity). As part of these efforts, he has developed novel statistical approaches and implemented these methods in widely distributed software, also disseminated via his strong commitment to teaching and training.
